There is a phenomenon that has seeped its way into our culture that gets so far under my skin that I am surprised I haven't become violent as a result.
I can't tell you exactly when it started but there is one fact that remains, it's annoying and raises a lot of questions for yours truly.
Why do people constantly make statements in the form of a question?
You'll notice that it's predominant in young people, but there are plenty of "adults" who are guilty of this as well.
I am inclined to believe that this has everything to do with lack of confidence and sheer apathy rather than any other factor. It's pathetic! Where have basic speaking skills gone?
I notice it at least once every day. Someone, somewhere, no matter the conversation, will automatically end their sentence in an upward motion...sort of like a sing song.
When people make this social faux-pas, I am forced to say "are you asking me or telling me?"

Monica,
It's nice to read some new blogs. I've coined a new phrase "blog hog" that refers to folks like me who hog up comment space, and your rants open the door nicely. All I can say is I will try and not to hog up too much space. And to others who read but do not blog themselves - what are you waiting for? This is good stuff.
I blame most poor communication blunders like this on pop culture. As I observe the little ones sprout through their teenage years, and with me now old enough to reflect on my own, it's amazes me how pop culture infiltrates into impressionable minds.
Maybe it is because I was raised conservatively and regard the pop-culture lifestyle as it's antithesis (whereas raised 'liberally', or whatever it should be coined, I would see nothing wrong with it), I am aware of how it enforces many slang grammer habits.
I don't speak perfect english, and sometimes my annunciation isn't any gooder (j/k), but I admit that I have to correct some lazy habits in order to engage in more stimuating coversation. "That's so cool", and, "Man, how awesome" can anly strech so far.
The rant of which you type could be the result of a popular commercial in which the personality is expressing themself in the same manner in which you describe. Maybe it is a humurous catch-phrase they hear on the radio with an annunciation that is unwittingly mimicked.
Or perhaps they just don't know any better.
I'll end by saying that pop-culture isn't the real culprit, it's certain people's lack of realization that perhaps they are simply repeating what has been impressed upon them instead of actually thinking it through to a logical conclusion.
